School

School starts in 5 days, and I am not excited.
In the past I have always been happy to go back, I get to see my friends again, I get to get new books, and I get to learn new things. And while this year I still am excited for these things, I feel that the good things are greatly overshadowed by the bad:

1. Unlike the past 15 summers of my life, I have kept in really close contact with all but about 3 of my friends. I have been living in my own little bubble of friends and books and and theater the internet. Going back to school means I have to pop it. No matter how cool I seem when I am with my friends, there is always someone out there cooler than you. And I have to go back to school and be faced with the fact that I am still just a nerdy girl who likes math a little too much.
2. I am taking AP Calculus, AP English, Physics and AP US History this year. And even though I am psyched for all of it, it is going to be a whole lot of work. For those unfamiliar with the horror of AP courses, here is a handy wikipedia article
3. Most of my classes are in the unairconditioned old building of our school. So the first three months are going to similar to sitting in an oven with 32 other people.
4. I am the SGA Vice President, the Assistant Stage Manager of Stage Crew, and the Team captain for our Envirothon team. That is a whole lot of responisility than I am not really that excited about.

TTFN

Hopefully I will post again soon.

tech week day 3

I am curenntly doing three things:

-Printing 60 copies of a reserved seat sign for the show.
-Listening to this, which may be the best vlogbrothers video ever.
-Burning my fingers as I try to eat a baked apple that I just made in my toaster oven.

Life is pretty good.

hell week: day two

The seussical song of the hour:

HORTON
On the fifteenth of May
In the jungle of Nool
In the heat of the day,
In the cool of the pool,
He was splashing

JUNGLE CITIZENS
Splash!

HORTON
Enjoying the jungle's great joys
When Horton the elephant

BOY
Horton the Elephant

BIRD GIRLS, ALL
Horton the elephant

HORTON
Heard a small noise.

Rehearsal last night went well (ish).
The costumes and make up look spectacular. It was the first we had done full costume/full makeup, and all our hard work has really payed off.
The local newspaper came and took pictures for what seems like it will be a very large article about our very small theater company. The photographer needed a contact so he could have some one identify people in photos/answer last minute questions.
For some reason (my frazzled teenager-ness, perhaps) he did not trust me very much. This morning, after I responded to his 20937 emails about cast lists and show dates and characters, he sent me this:

"i knew i could count on you ...
so i put all my eggs in one basket, you.
was getting worried if i didn't get a reply from you,
i would have to look into old files for other contact names."

It was very interesting.

Here are some pictures:

me, aguring with the cast on how to put on blush

The whos.

the bird girls, the cat in the hat (sans hat), and gertrude

Well, I need to shower and get ready for tonight's rehearsal.

seuss?

Today (well, officially yesterday) was the last day before hell week.
I already miss the peace of it.
Starting tomorrow, I will be spending way too much time thinking about Seussical the Musical .

When your thinks have run dry,
In the blink of an eye
There's another think there!
If you open your mind,
Oh, the thinks you will find
Lining up to get loose!
Oh, the thinks you can think...
When you think about Seuss!

There is a certain magic to tech week. I mean--it must be magic, to pull together a show in a week. It starts out horrible--no one knows their lines, everyone forgets their blocking, the choreography goes down the drain--but ends up being rather good. For some reason it always does.

But now, I have probably jinxed it.

Gertrude (Dramatically):
I sailed on a junk
And was practically sunk
For you.
I trampled thorough the trees
Full of furious bees
For you.
I slogged through a fog
And a choking smog
Down a soggy slope
Through a stinking bog
While my slip was gripped
By a vicious dog
For you.

wish me luck.

i mean, broken legs
