what?

“I hope parents can talk to their kids and tell them even though Harry Potter made that seem fun, that it isn’t O.K.,” said Dr. Welsh, the author of a 2007 article about alcohol use in the Harry Potter series, published in The Journal of Child and Adolescent Substance Abuse.

This is ridiculous

I feel obliged...

I feel the need to write a blog about Harry Potter.

It was good.
It didn't quite live up to my expectations, but it was good.

My expectations were pretty high...

I got home last night at midnight, and the first thing I did today (other than read 3/4 of a book) was to go see the movie.
I went with Katherine and Colin and my mother and my brother.

And it was good.
I love how they included so many of the little details, and tried to keep the "spirit" of the book. And I felt that the plot was nicely abridged. I didn't even mind that they cut out some of the things they did.

And I liked Emma Watson a lot, along with Rupert Grint, and Evanna Lynch, and most of the cast.
And I liked the clothes Ron wore.
And I liked how they did the memories.
And I liked Tom Felton, Draco was absolutely perfect.
And I liked Luna's christmas party dress.

I didn't like the scene in the field.
Or the whole burrow-burning-down thing.
Or the lack of funeral.
Or the lack of Hagrid.
Or the actor who played Slughorn. (I think he was my least favorite part)

All in all, it was enjoyable.
Not my favorite, but still enjoyable.

I think I want to go and see it in theaters again.

And now my father is making The Golden Compass jokes.
I lead a weird life.

Ttfn.

pandoralove

I am listening to pandora right now, and a song called "Worms" (by Beth Orton) just came on, and i personally think it is absouletly genious:

Worms don’t dance they haven’t got the balls
no matter how do you do
it’s just you do that’s all
you got what it takes to knock at my door
you wanna get all excited
never been here before

and now i’m your apple eating heathen
the original sin
well you ain’t got my faith
so best keep your belief
i had waited forever to love someone
i swear i heard you thank your god this time
for having me come along

chickens don’t fly but they have got the wings
no matter how hard they try
they bump into things
they’re all running around
like they’re heads on the ground
they got a wish bone where their backbone should’ve grown

and now i’m your apple eating heathen
any old rib stealing eve
well you don’t have my faith
so best keep your belief
i had waited forever to love someone
i swear i heard you thank your god that time
for having me come along

intimacy reduced to cruelty
had you believe like this was meant to be
and i look for the magic
but you got away with it
that’s all

frenzy

Well, its been awhile since I have graced this website with a visit.

I have decided to blame my lack of blogging on the fact that I have been writing daily letters to my friend Laura, who is at camp for the 6 weeks. I have basically been writing what I would write here, and since I have written it once, I don't feel the need to write it again.

Either that, or just keep forgetting.

Well, I haven't really been doing much. Yesterday was 4th of July, and to celebrate I went to the parade and the fireworks with all of my Friends, went to two parties, and spent way too much time with Katherine.
The quite enjoyable, except the fact that Katherine woke me up WAY to early by playing me a patriotic medley on my ukulele.
Very loudly.
Very poorly.

My town gets REALLY into the 4th of July.
If you mention "Fourth of July" in an conversation at ANY time of the year to almost anyone, you will be talking about how great it is for the next (to put it as Katherine would) eleventy hundred hours; when the holiday actually comes around, the world turns upside down. About two weeks before the parade, people start putting chairs and blankets along the parade route, so they can guarantee themselves spots.
The fireworks may be the largest event in the town, ever.

It's intense.

I didn't have a camera (it broke two weeks ago, and wasn't replaced until this afternoon), I don't have any pictures, but I may put some up at some point, if any good ones are uploaded to facebook.

Much love,
SOPHIE
